How to get through the fasting wall

The wall is usually a clock, a habit, and low salt โ€” not a moral failure.

The wall arrives at the meal you always used to eat. For 16:8 people it is breakfast. For 18:6 it is lunch. Your body is not collapsing. It is ringing a bell it has rung for years.

Three things move you through it. First, change rooms. Hunger is worse in the kitchen. Second, drink something warm and salted. Third, give it twenty minutes. Most waves last less than that.

Do not white-knuckle a new duration on a high-stress day. Keep your first longer fasts on calm mornings. Tell one person so you are not also managing secrecy.

If the wall comes with dizziness, tunnel vision, or a racing heart, that is not a mindset problem. Break the fast with protein and something cooked. Try again another day, shorter.
